Trust Your Intuition

I believe our intuition is given challenges. It is a matter if you listen to your intuition, ignore it, or even recognize it. Webster’s dictionary states intuition is, “the power or faculty of attaining to direct knowledge or cognition without evident rational thought and inference.” I like to think of intuition simply as, knowing without knowledge. I believe we are given challenges to continuously remind us to check in with our intuition and not feed our ego. I believe the challenges serve as a review of what is important to us. I also believe we were born with everything we need to know, it is just a matter of recalling the information, hence, where our intuition serves us. Recently I encountered an experience where I didn’t trust my intuition and feed my ego. This experience made me stop and review what is really important to me. read more...

In 2000 a colleague introduced me to the book Loving Kindness, by Sharon Salzberg. We were trainers for Shanti in San Francisco, the oldest volunteer AIDS service organization in the United States. Our work with volunteer managers of other non-profit organizations, as well as our work training Shanti’s volunteers for our AIDS/HIV clients was intense and rewarding; and required open hearts and minds. The book and practice transformed my life and began a journey that continues to this day. read more...
